I Was Expecting You

I was expecting you.
I didn't know it was gunna be YOU,
But I was expecting you.

Patiently waiting in my treehouse
Floating in a whirlwind of natural talent and innate beauty
As if it was embeded in their Genetics,
Not the least synthetic.

And I felt you.
I couldn't see you,
But I felt you.

The emotions inside were building up
Almost ready to boil over with joy.
Looking up to the Sun and reaping its benefits
its warmth, its light, every last bit.

And I heard you.
I couldn't see you,
But I heard you.

Speaking in one ear then the other.
Enlightening, inspiring, embracing me with those Wise Words.
Those Wise Words...

That night I found you.
I wore you.

I went to battle that night.
Left battered and beaten,
Facing every old demon.

But I felt you.
And I heard you.
And I wore you.
And glorified you for those Wise Words.
Those Wise Words...

And that's how I knew You were there.
You were here.
More near and clear than You've ever been.

More clear than that time on the trail,
Or at the round table.

When I found YOU, I found Him.

I was expecting you.
I didn't know it was gunna be YOU,
but I'm glad it's you...

To be continued...

This One's for You.

I really wish you could see me now
See me how
I'm making moves
I wasn't born to lose.

That's probably why
You push me out of your life
Cuz it hurts too bad to see me succeed
When you used to be
All that I'd need.

See, you came along and worked your magic
And when you left it was tragic.

I can never hate you though,
Cuz you paved the road,
you gave me your love and lightened the load.

Now you rather bring me down,
Make me drown,
but it only makes me stronger,
puts more power behind my crown.

You'll always be beautiful to me.
Cuz you planted that seed,
to finding ME.
 And I thank you,
And I love you,
and that was probably the first powerful statement I ever told you that was true.

But YOU?
See I don't even know you.
You're in the same boat of pushing me away
when from the beginning
I just wanted you to stay.

It's all good though,
Can't miss something you don't know.

I feel for you.

I don't understand how you could've done it
Missed out on a beautiful lady,
Two babies,
And kept runnin.

You say you never doubter her ability,
Doesn't mean doing it alone was necessary.

But me,
You were supposed to be there.
Protect me from all the shit I went through
That wasn't fair.

I hate to see your little man cry.
You don't understand how many times I die
When I hear him ask "why?"

But I get it now.
You're the one missing out.

It must've been hard reading that letter with everything I've done,
What I'm doing,
And what I plan on pursuing.
2 pages front and back.
Damn, no wonder I never got a letter back.
You probably had nothing to say,
Sort of like the first day...

 So this one's for YOU.
After all the low key shit you've put me through,
Thank You.

I always take time to thank the Big Man Above
For my ability to love.
Cuz it helps me forgive you,
pull through,
and stay true.

I really wish you could see me now.
There's not a doubt in my mind that you'd be proud.

The Best Kept Secret

lyr·i·cist

[lir-uh-sist]
noun
1. a person who writes the lyrics  for songs.
2. a lyric poet.*
...A lyricist, also called a lyric writer or wordsmith, is a person who has a way with words; Example: Rich McBuckets.

Alright, let me introduce you to another highly talented friend of mine... He goes by the name Rich McBuckets and he just put out his first mixtape: Verano Vibes. Since the first song I heard of his, "Odd Man Out", I knew Rich was going to do great things with his talent. His music is real and honest, but his play on words is just impeccable.  Rich formulates thee most clever analogies and metaphors, and like he says in his song "Beast", he "kills 'em with the syntax."

Cover Art: Brandon Smith
You don't have to take my word for it, you can check out his mixtape for yourself (another one of those highly recommended listens). Verano Vibes "is a fun collage of songs that will lift your spirits and is perfect for the summer!" The six tracks all complement each other perfectly and take you through all the best moments of a summer's day. Rich offers a glimpse into his life from hanging out with his friends in "California Sunshine" to his more vulnerable side with "Falling in Love".  Don't get me wrong though, Rich definitely sets the record straight with some of his hard hitting, bass kicking tracks like "Show Me Something" and "Beast".  He lets us all know what he's about and there's just no denying that writing songs is what he's meant to do.  There's a track for everyone on Verano Vibes. Rich Mcbuckets is fresh, in every translation of the word. His connection with each beat is on point, his ability to create a mixtape with not 1 curse word is impressive, and his translation of ideas through analogies, metaphors, and similes, is captivating. Just the beats alone put you in a good mood and make you want to listen, but his words make you think "what did he just say?" then rewind it and listen again.

Honestly, I'm glad Rich McBuckets is doing what he's doing. I definitely look forward to his future projects. Waiting for his next compilation is like waiting for midnight on Christmas. You don't quite know what you're going to get but you know there's something great under that tree. Haha. If you haven't already, go listen to Verano Vibes, you wont regret it! Shout outs to Rich, you're doing your thing and you're doing it like a boss. I'm going to leave you with a Rich McBuckets video and the link to his bandcamp page...

"My goal in life is to open eyes, gettin money for my signature, call it notarized. Left them in the dust cuz I formulate the right words, heavyweight bars while your verses are just light work..." -Rich McBuckets
